Donating 6000 Medical Masks! With even more on the way!

Apr 16th 2020

Medical Face Masks are difficult to come by, and there are so many different versions out there. As we know, N95 masks are the best for protection from COVID-19, but as this pandemic continues we are all being instructed to wear whatever type of masks we may have when we are out in public.

We were able to obtain 6000 Surgical Medical Masks, which we donated to our local hospitals, town health departments and healthcare professionals. We have also ordered another 40,000 Surgical Medical Masks, which we are anticipate to receive in the coming weeks.

Masks were a slightly more difficult material to acquire in comparison to face shields, especially in large quantities. FDA registration can be required in order to purchase and receive customs clearance. However FDA policies change often, especially in response to this pandemic and acquiring materials to help fight it.

Looking into N95 masks we found that the FDA only allowed purchase from a small handful of Chinese vendors. This limit of sources could change, as prior to this pandemic the FDA was not allowing any Chinese-manufactured N95 masks. We recently placed an order for 20,000 N95 masks, though with the current demand are unsure of how soon to expect delivery. We are working with a customs clearance broker to help us with a FDA registration to aid us in continuing to acquire masks and other PPE supplies to donate.

After we received the masks, we worked internally to supply translations on all products with foreign language packaging so that our recipients know exactly what they are receiving and can use the materials with confidence

There are so many small ways that you can help your community if you lack the resources for medical supply donations. One way to help is to consider donating blood – due to all blood drives being shut down to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the blood supply was critically low. So many across the country have stepped up and made private appointments with the American Red Cross. Check your local Red Cross clinic to see if there are any open appointments, even if it is a couple weeks away. Blood is a constant medical need that can help so many in need.

We are ready to help in any way – please reach out to us if you have any questions about our process of finding, ordering and donating supplies. We would love to help you help your community by sharing our experience!

You can do this! We can do this! We are all in this together!
