Blind Shipments

Artisan Power® Blind Shipments

Many of our products such as chargers, holsters, clips, headsets and other accessories do not qualify as dangerous goods, and can be processed as blind when being shipped via air services.

Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries and Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) batteries are also not considered dangerous goods, and can be processed as blind when being shipped via air services.

Lithium Ion (Li-ion) and Lithium Polymer (Li-polymer) batteries are considered Dangerous Goods, and cannot be processed as blind when being shipped via air services.

Why can’t my air shipment be blind?

If your order contains Lithium-Ion and/or Lithium Polymer batteries of any quantity, it qualifies as Dangerous Goods.

Dangerous Goods and other hazardous material shipments are heavily regulated, and shippers of these goods must go through formalized training and certification.

The shipper of a Dangerous Goods package being sent via air must fill out official Dangerous Goods documentation as well as following packaging and labelling guidelines according to the specific goods being handled.

The Shipper’s Declaration is the most important document as it lists important details about the shipment’s contents. The type of Dangerous Goods is specified, as well as the specific packaging and labelling guidelines, and how it must be transported. This document must be completed by the individual shipping the package, as they are responsible under CFR Title 49, The International Air Transport Association, and other regulators to ensure the safety of the cargo and everyone on board the flight.

Because the shipper must list their own name and contact information as the source of the package, a different company/name/address cannot be filled in as it would be in a typical blind shipment.

In addition, a Material Safety Data Sheet or MSDS must be included with the dangerous goods paperwork. This document must list the address and contact information for the supplier as well as details regarding the dangerous good’s composition as well as health and safety information in the handling of the goods.

The only document that could list a different source would be the unofficial packing slip provided to the customer, which is not a document needed by the official Dangerous Goods shipment auditors.

Improper documentation, packaging, labelling and shipment of Dangerous Goods could lead to package rejection and/or fines.

Can my international shipment be blind?

Many of our products such as Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries and Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) batteries, chargers, holsters, clips, headsets and other accessories can be processed fully blind for international shipments so long as they are shipped via ground transportation services.

If your ground shipment order contains Dangerous Goods such as Lithium Ion (Li-ion) and Lithium Polymer (Li-polymer) batteries the shipment documentation must include an MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) which, by law, has to list the manufacturer origin. This would be the only document referencing Artisan Power LLC as the source of your package. Your packing slip and shipping label would be able to be blind, listing you or your company as the shipper/origin.

If your preferred shipping method is air, the package can only be blind if the contents are not Dangerous Goods – any orders containing Lithium Ion (Li-ion) and Lithium Polymer (Li-polymer) batteries cannot be processed and shipped blindly.

NOTE: We can only ship blind internationally via UPS, not FedEx.

The only truly blind way to ship Dangerous Goods is by ground.
